India has been awarded the hosting rights for the prestigious ISSF Junior World Cup 2025, the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) announced on Sunday. This milestone decision underscores India’s growing influence in the world of shooting sport and its commitment to fostering talent at the junior level.

The announcement was made by ISSF President Luciano Rossi, who is currently in New Delhi attending the ISSF World Cup Final, where the year’s top shooters are competing at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Ranges. Rossi also expressed ISSF’s readiness to back India’s bids for more international events in the future.

“I would like to congratulate India for their stellar performance at the recently concluded Junior World Championship in Peru,” Rossi said. “We at ISSF will fully support India’s application to host the Junior World Cup in 2025 and any future international events, as and when we are approached by the NRAI (National Rifle Association of India).”

Rossi also emphasized India’s growing stature as a shooting powerhouse, highlighting not only its talented athletes but also the country’s commitment to developing world-class infrastructure and expanding the sport’s reach.

“India continues to be a significant force in the world of shooting, not only because of its remarkable athletes but also through its dedication to building a strong foundation for the future of the sport,” Rossi added. “Hosting events like the World Cup Final is a testament to the efforts and passion of everyone involved.”

India’s hosting of the ISSF Junior World Cup 2025 follows its remarkable success on the global stage, including standout performances at the recent ISSF Junior World Championship. A squad of 23 Indian shooters is currently set to compete against the world’s best at the season-ending World Cup Final, which kicks off on Tuesday.

Kalikesh Singh Deo, president of the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI), praised India’s progress in shooting sports and credited the collaborative efforts of various stakeholders for developing a strong ecosystem for the sport.

“India’s growing stature in shooting has been a result of a focused and collaborative effort by all stakeholders who are creating a strong ecosystem, from grassroots programs to elite training facilities,” said Kalikesh.

He also highlighted the significance of hosting world-class events for boosting the confidence of the Indian team and inspiring the next generation. “Hosting events like the ISSF World Cup Final demonstrates India’s ability to elevate shooting sport globally. We are committed to bringing world events on a regular basis, not only to help boost the confidence of the Indian team, but also help upcoming generations be inspired by watching their favourite stars in live action in front of them,” Kalikesh added.

With the backing of the ISSF and continued investments in infrastructure and talent development, India is poised to strengthen its reputation as a global force in shooting sports. The ISSF Junior World Cup 2025 will mark yet another chapter in India’s impressive journey, as the nation continues to inspire and nurture the next generation of shooting stars.
