Arya Borse and Rudrankksh Patil won silver in 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team at the ISSF World Cup in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on Wednesday, taking India’s medal tally to seven.

This was Patil’s second medal of the competition, having already clinched gold in 10m Air Rifle, and Borse’s first-ever senior international medal.

The Indian duo put up a strong fight in the final against China’s Wang Zifei and Song Buhan but ultimately lost 17-9. Arya and Rudrankksh found themselves trailing 6-0 early in the match before they managed to win their first series. They gained momentum between the 9th and 12th single-shot series, winning three in succession and drawing one. Despite their spirited comeback, the Chinese pair maintained their lead and closed out the match to take gold.

For Wang Zifei, this was also a second gold of the competition, having earlier topped the podium in 10m Air Rifle.

In the qualification round, Arya and Rudrankksh combined for a score of 630.5 to book their place in the gold medal match. The Chinese duo had topped qualification with a score of 631.4.

Meanwhile, the second Indian pair — Arjun Babuta and Narmada Nithin Raju — finished fourth. They registered a score of 629.6 in qualification to reach the bronze medal match, where they faced Argentina’s Fernanda Russo and Marcelo Julian Gutierrez. The Argentine team, buoyed by home support and a slightly higher qualification score of 629.8, edged out the Indians 17-13 to secure bronze. This was Gutierrez’s second medal of the competition, having earlier won bronze in 10m Air Rifle.
