Simranpreet Kaur Brar of Punjab beat Olympian Rahi Sarnobat of Maharshtra 18-14 to win the Women 25m Pistol (T2) at the ongoing National Selection Trials at Bhopal.
Rhythm Sangwan of Haryana took third place ahead of statemate Manu Bhaker. Rhythm also beat Manu 23-19 for the top spot in the junior women event while Junior World Champion Naamya Kapoor of Delhi was third ahead of Simranpreet.
In Women 50m Rifle Three Positions (T1), Gaayathri Nithyanandam of Tamil Nadu beat Sift Kaur Samra of Punjab 16-10 for the top spot. Olympian Anjum Moudgil of Punjab, who qualified in the second spot with 584, was pushed to the fourth spot by Ayushi Podder of West Bengal.
Sift won the junior event by a margin of 16-14 over qualification topper Ashi Chouksey (586) of Madhya Pradesh.
Over 3300 shooters, including all top shooters of the country, are participating in the year first National Selection Trials in Bhopal, after they had to be postponed from January this year, because of the raging pandemic. Indian teams for the upcoming ISSF World Cup in Baku and Junior World Cup in Suhl are to be selected on the basis of these trials.
