Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar of Madhya Pradesh beat fellow Tokyo Olympian Deepak Kumar of Air Force 17-11 in the Men’s 10m Air Rifle (T2) at the ongoing National Selection Trials in Bhopal.
Deepak shot 631.6 to finish third in qualification while Aishwary finished a spot behind with 629.9. They met again in the four-man medal round after coming through their semifinals, where Deepak again topped the table with 42.5 to Tomar 40.5, setting up the gold medal clash where Aishwary eventually turned the tables on Deepak.
Rudrankksh Patil (629.3) of Maharsahtra took the third place.
The qualification topper, Maddineni Umamahesh (632.5) of Andhra Pradesh did well to dominate the junior and youth events, by beating Avinash Yadav (629.1) of Madhya Pradesh 17-9 and Ajay Malik (626.2) of Uttar Pradesh 16-2 respectively. Dhanush Srikanth (632.0) of Telangana and Ranavir Katkar (626.9) of Mahrashtra finished third in junior and youth events respectively.
Over 3300 Shooters, including all top shooters of the country, are participating in the year first National Selection Trials in Bhopal, after they had to be postponed from January this year, because of the raging pandemic. Indian teams for the upcoming ISSF World Cup in Baku and Junior World Cup in Suhl are to be selected on the basis of these trials.
