National shooter Dishant Dey was on Thursday subjected to harassment by a major airline which denied him permission to carry his .177 air rifle while travelling to Thiruvananthapuram for the National Shooting Championship.
The 65th National Shooting Championship Competitions in rifle events will be held at Vattiyoorkkavu Shooting Range in Thiruvananthapuram from November 20 to December 9.
Dey had booked himself on Indigo Airline.
NRAI took to Twitter to narrate the shooter’s ordeal.

Backing the shooter, the sport governing body in the country added, Save a sporting career. The athlete and his mother are at the airport with no help forthcoming.ÔÇØ
Earlier this month, the NRAI had released an advisory for shooters travelling by air to compete at the 65th Shooting Nationals in Thiruvananthapuram.
“All the shooters participating in 65th National Shooting Championship Competition being held at Trivandrum, Kearala from 20th November to 9th December 2022, are hereby advised to avoid travel by Indigo Airlines. As per the information received from DGCA, there may be a prooblem for carrying Srms and Ammunition to Trivandrium by Indigo airlines,” the advisory released on 2nd November by the national federation read.
