    Kynan Chenai bags bronze in Asian Shotgun

    Olympian Kynan Chenai bagged the bronze medal in the Men Trap at the ongoing 7th Asian Shotgun Championship at Astana, Kazakhstan.

    The 26-year-old, Kynan shot the third best qualification score of 116 (23,23,23,23,24) and followed it with with 30 hits in the finals to claim his first ever international medal at the senior level. The Hyderabad based shooter had won the junior silver in the Asian championship in Jaipur in 2008.

    With the two other Indian shooters ÔÇö Zoravar Singh Sandhu (110) and Birendeep Sodhi (98) ÔÇö shooting below par, to be placed 17th and 36th respectively, in a field of 41 shooters, India finished seventh among the 13 teams, with a total of 324.

    Abdulrahman Al Faihan of Kuwait won the gold with a score of 39 while Talal AlRashidi also of Kuwait won the silver with a score of 38.

    World Cup silver medallist Seema Tomar shot 63 (19,22,22) points and missed the women trap final by two points. Seema finished 9th in a filed of 30 shooters.

    Commonwealth Games silver medallist Shreyasi Singh (55) and Rajeshwari Kumari (52) shot below par and placed 26th and 27th respectively.

    Zhang Xinqiu of China won the gold as she beat Ray Bassil of Lebanon 37-33.
