Olympian Anjum Moudgil of India won silver in the Women 50m Rifle Three Positions at the ISSF World Cup in Baku, Azerbaijan.
The 29-year-old Anjum had shot 587 in qualification and followed that up with a 406.5 in the second stage that led to the medal round. Anjum was 4.9 point behind Denmark Rikke Maeng Ibsen who went on to win the gold medal match 16-12.
It was the second individual silver medal in a World Cup in the event for Anjum who had won the silver in 10m Air Rifle at the 2018 World Championship. Anjum earlier silver in the 50m Rifle Three Positions was won at the 2018 World Cup in Guadalajara.
There was heartbreak for the other two Indian women in the fray though as Ayushi Podder finished 16th with a 585, just one point away from the final top-eight mark and Ashi Chouksey ended 20th with a score of 584.
The Indian trio of Swapnil Kussale, Deepak Kumar and Goldi Gurjar bagged the silver in Mens’ 50m Rifle Three Positions Team after going down 7-17 to Croatia in the gold medal match. Ukraine took the bronze in a field of 14 teams.
In Women 50m Rifle Three Positions Team, Anjum, Ayushi and Ashi shot 867 in the second stage, and missed the chance to fight for a medal by one point. It was a disappointing turn as the team had topped the first stage of qualification with 1316.
The Indian tally went up to a gold and three silver medals which helped the team climb to the third spot on the medals table behind Korea and Serbia.
