Teenage shooting sensation Manu Bhaker won the gold medal in women’s 10m air pistol at the 14th Asian Shooting Championship in Doha, Qatar.

The 17-year-old Manu, though, had already secured an Olympic quota in May at the ISSF World Cup in Munich.

Manu’s win today came after Deepak Kumar won the quota with a bronze in the men’s 10m air rifle.

Manu shot the highest qualification score of 584 to equal the junior world record and followed it up with 244.3 in the final to take the yellow metal with a margin of 1.5 point.

Asian Games champion Wang Qian of China won the silver while Jiang Ranxin took the bronze.

Yashaswini Singh Deswal, who is the other shooter apart from Manu to have won a quota in the event, shot 578 in the qualification and finished sixth in the final.

The third Indian in the event, Olympian Annu Raj Singh, shot 569 to finish 20th.

The Indian trio went on to win the team bronze with a score of 1731, behind Korea (1736) and China (1733) respectively.

Manisha Keer and Vivaan Kapoor won the gold in the junior mixed trap. Manisha and Vivaan beat the Chinese pair of Ting Zhang and Pengyu Chen 34-29 in the gold medal match. The latter had qualified for the final with a record score.
