It was a disappointing day for the Indian shooters, even though the team bagged eight medals on the second day of the 14th Asian Shooting Championship in Doha, Qatar but it narrowly missed out on at least three possible Olympic quotas.

Olympian Kynan Chenai finished joint first with 122/125 in the qualification, but was the first to be eliminated in the final.

In men 25m rapid fire pistol, Anish Bhanwala finished 11th while the 10th placed Thailand shooter bagged the fourth quota in the event. A below par 90 in the last 4-second series undid all the good work of Anish.

Shreyasi Singh in women trap shot 114 and got into a five-way shoot-off for the last qualification spot for the final, but she finished third best to eventually end in the eighth position.

There were a lot of team medals for India, apart from the junior medals, as it took it’s tally to 13, which included four gold.
