Elavenil Valarivan and Mehuli Ghosh made it one-two for India as they won gold and silver medal in women’s 10m air rifle at the ISSF Junior World Cup in Suhl, Germany.
Elavenil, who recently won a silver at the Summer Universiade in Italy, shot 251.6 to claim the gold, 1.4 point ahead of qualification topper Mehuli (630.4). Interestingly, Elavenil had qualified in the eighth place for the final with 627.5.
Oceanne Marianne Muller of France took the bronze.
Elaveniel and Mehuli teamed up with Shreya Agrawal (625.4) to win the team gold with a junior world record of 1883.3. Hungary (1880.0) won the silver while Singapore (1877.4) took the bronze.
Indian shooters have won six gold, six silver and two bronze for a total of 14 medals so far in the competition. Russia and Norway have two gold medals each, while China, Austria, Thailand and Germany have won one gold each.
