The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) plans to abolish the system of ‘wild card’ from next edition of the National Shooting Championship.

Just a week back indianshooting.com had reported how the National Championship was at a risk of losing it’s reputation as NRAI had granted wild card to many shooters — who had fallen short of the Minimum Qualification Score (MQS) at qualifying events — for a fee of Rs 5,000.

However from next year the shooter will have to achieve the MQS at either the Zonal Championships or the All India G.V. Mavlankar Shooting Championship in order to participate in the Nationals.

With an aim to maintain a good standard at the Nationals, there has been some restriction from this year as compared to last year and the system of wild card will be out of practice from the 2018 edition.
