Elizabeth Susan Koshy shot 586 in Women 50m Rifle Three Position, but missed a final berth and a chance to grab an Olympic quota at the ISSF World cup in Munich.
It was a commendable performance by the 21-year-old Elizabeth as she shot a qualification score of 586 (Kneeling 194, Prone 195, Standing 197) to finish 9th. She missed the final berth to Amy Sowash of the US, after being tied on 586, as the American had a better score of inner-10s, 26x to 25x.
There were two Olympic quotas on offer in the event and five of the eight finalists, already had the quota. Had Elizabeth made the cut for the final, she could have fought for one of the Olympic quota.
The other Indians in the fray, Lajja Gauswami shot 580 to finish 30th while Anjum Moudgil shot 577 to finish 43rd. Shooting in the MQS category Tejaswini Sawant shot 579 while Anjali Bhagwat shot 567.
The gold was won by Barbara Engleder of Germany 461.5 (587), Silver by Yoo Seo Young of Korea 455.0 (588) while bronze went to China Yi Siling 444.6 (588).
